Operation Saves
Privacy
Operation Saves is an animal rescue and sanctuary. We collect as little about you as we can, and we never sell it. This page covers this website and the tool we use to post on our Facebook Page and Instagram account.
The short version
- No ads, no tracking and no analytics services on this website.
- We never sell or trade information about you.
- If you enter one of our Facebook photo contests, we keep your photo until 30 days after the contest closes, unless you win.
- Email it@operationsaves.org and we'll delete anything we hold about you.
When you visit this website
Our web server keeps a short log of each visit: your internet (IP) address, the page you asked for, the time, the page that sent you here, and the name of your browser. We use it to keep the site running and to count how many visits come from each of our links, for example how many people arrived from a Facebook post. The log is deleted after about two weeks.
This website doesn't use cookies to follow you, and it has no ads. The only cookie we set is a sign-in cookie for our own team on our task list page.
Our fonts come from Google Fonts, so your browser asks Google for them and Google sees your internet address. You can read Google's privacy policy.
Our Facebook and Instagram tool
Our team uses a tool we built, called "Operation Saves" on Facebook, to post on our own Facebook Page and Instagram account. It can:
- publish our posts, now or at a set time;
- read our own past posts and how many likes, comments and shares they got, so we can see what's working and share an old favourite again;
- read the entries to our photo contests (see below).
It only works with our own Page and Instagram account. It isn't a "Log in with Facebook" button, so it never gets into your Facebook account, and it doesn't collect anything about the people who follow, like or comment on our Page, apart from photo contest entries.
Photo contests
Sometimes we run a photo contest on Facebook, and you enter by commenting on the contest post with a photo of your pet. When the contest closes, our tool saves each comment that has a photo:
- the photo;
- the words of your comment;
- how many likes it got, when you posted it, and a link to it.
Facebook doesn't tell our tool who you are. To choose a winner, someone on our team looks at the entries on Facebook itself, where your name shows just as it does to everyone else.
If you win, we share your photo on our Page with your first name and your pet's name, as the contest post says. We use an AI writing service to help draft that announcement. It's given only your first name and your pet's name, never your photo or your comment.
We delete every entry photo 30 days after the contest closes, except the winner's, which stays with our announcement. The words, likes and link of each entry stay in our contest records unless you ask us to delete them.
Who else sees it
We don't sell, rent or trade information about you, and we don't use it for advertising. The only other companies involved are the ones that run things for us: the company that hosts our server, Facebook and Instagram themselves, Google for our fonts, and the AI writing service described above.
Deleting your information
- A contest entry: if you delete your comment before the contest closes, we never save it. If the contest has already closed, email us and we'll delete your photo and its record.
- Anything else: email it@operationsaves.org and tell us what you'd like deleted. For a contest entry, tell us which contest and roughly when you commented, so we can find it. We'll delete it and email you when it's done.
Because our tool never logs you in with Facebook, there's nothing to disconnect in your Facebook settings.
Children
This website and our posts are meant for adults. We don't knowingly collect anything from children under 13. If you think a child has sent us something, email us and we'll delete it.
Changes to this page
If what we collect changes, we'll update this page and the date below.
